The Data Strategy and Enablement team has started its journey towards enabling further digital transformation in our data and advanced analytics space. Composed of Data Engineers, Business Systems Analysts and Architects our team focuses on building and enabling best-in-class data platforms with a focus on migrating our assets from an on premise data lake to Google’s Cloud Platform.

Join a dynamic team that is paving the way towards digital transformation and enable teams across the organization to make better use of data. Make use of your analytical skills and ability to analyze and assess the impact of data on upstream and downstream systems and help clarify and define cloud-related business processes and best practices across TELUS. Help architect the transformation and modernization of our enterprise data solutions and the integration of Google Cloud and native GCP services and 3rd party data technologies.

Here’s how
Build data pipelines, provision infrastructure and secure reliable data-centric services and applications in GCP
Analyze data, build models and generate reports and visualization using Hadoop and Cloud infrastructure
Help integrate large datasets stemming from multiple data sources to be later used for data modelling
Identify opportunities for and implement automation in the development and production process to reduce upfront hands-on work
Capture issues with the data that impact key business drivers and relay them to the product management teams
Support the data pipelines feeding into our machine learning algorithms and models
Assist the extracting, loading, transforming, cleaning, and validating of data
You’re the missing piece of the puzzle
You are recognized for your 8+ years of experience of IT platform implementation in a technical capacity
You are sought out for your 5+ years experience of Data Lake and platforms implementation with experience implementing and performance tuning Spark applications
Google Cloud Dataflow and Google BigQuery experience
You are respected for your experience in designing and deploying distributed, multi-technology, data processing systems (MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra, HBase, Redis, MongoDB, Hadoop, Spark or others)
You bring systems design experience with the ability to architect and explain complex systems interactions, data flows, common interfaces and APIs
You bring a deep understanding of and experience with software development and programming languages and Python, Perl and Shell scripting
You are experienced with Apache, its ecosystem and relevant tools (Sqoop, Flume, Kafka, Oozie, Hue, Zookeeper, HCatalog, Solr, Avro)
You are familiar SQL-on- technologies (Hive, Impala, Spark SQL, Presto)
Nice to have
GCP Professional Data Engineering certification
DevOps practices and tools experience
Orchestration and job scheduling platforms experience
