What You’ll Be Doing
At CIBC Innovation, we’re building the bank of the future. As a Senior Technology Lead, you will be accountable for creating, maintaining and leading CIBC Innovation Lab’s technology strategy, process and roadmap. You will work with a cross-functional team of Developers, UX/UI Designers, Data Scientists and others to enable creation of prototypes, MVPs, pilot and/or full program launches. You will support the discovery and development of new and innovative solutions for the bank’s most compelling opportunities, working closely with business and technology partners across the bank. You will be part of a dynamic innovation lab team that works collaboratively across the entire bank. As the lab’s tech lead, you will assess CIBC’s innovation pipeline, ensure we have right process, tools, strategies and resources in place to successfully design, develop and launch products/services/prototypes/MVPs in the innovation lab environment.
How You’ll Succeed
1) Create, manage and lead tech delivery strategies
Translate business strategy in collaboration with stakeholders and lines of business into technology plans that are clear and measurable, with progress shared out regularly to stakeholders and leaders.
Recommend, plan and implement solutions for technical challenges and brings the right people together to solve problems and resolve bottlenecks. Connect the right people, set the framework and context, and communicate frequently, forming collaborative relationships to make things happen instead of setting mandates or asserting direct control on teams.
Understand and influence technical plans for our biggest investments.
Provide technical guidance / solutions, develop and guide the team members in enhancing their technical capabilities and increasing productivity, participate in technical discussions/review.
Implement best practices and coding standards for tech process.
2) Establish close relationships with business stakeholders and enable success
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of experimental programs by monitoring project scope, schedule, and budget, working through influence to identify and solve technical, process, development and reiterations.
Act as a liaison between internal product leaders, business and innovation partners on technical plans, software development roadmaps, features and policies.
Enable developers, designers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to successfully turn concepts and ideas into launched products / porotypes / MVPs etc.
4) Create and maintain a prioritized Tech development roadmap – working with stakeholders to develop a vision that satisfies their requirements.
5) Deliver with speed – You understand and support agile, innovation and change, making sure we’re delivering on time, within scope and budget, and are future-proofed. You can manage multiple priorities at the same time and iterate effectively.
6) Establish clear product OKRs – Work with leaders, business and data analysts to establish, measure and assess key performance indicators (KPIs).
7) Serve as the internal/external subject matter expert on Tech design, delivery process – Act as the primary contact for product / development related questions.
8) Coach and Mentor – Grow our team members by providing the right balance of challenge and support. Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery. Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
Who You Are
You are a technology expert. You have a strong track record leading strategy, design, and technology teams through medium and large-scale digital projects. Minimum 4 years experience in technology and development. College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred.
You have proven development experience. You have coding knowledge and understand the software development lifecycle. Experience in a startup or development agency is a strong asset.
You can demonstrate experience in collaborating with a diverse technical and agile team.
