Job description: Summary

Scott Construction is a well-known and trusted General Contractor & Construction Manager with offices in Burnaby, Calgary and Toronto. Our diverse portfolio of projects finds us building amazing complex structures to smaller renovation projects for clients in the commercial, residential, institutional, industrial and special projects sectors.

Reporting to the Director, Field Operations, you will be responsible for providing overall supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities. The initial project for this role is a $3.2 million seismic structural upgrade to an existing residential tower building in the Victoria area expected to take six (6) months. Project, includes concrete footings, shear walls and concrete beams. This building is finished so work also then includes the removal and replacement of finishes.

Roles & Responsibilities

• On site supervision and coordination of trades
• With a collaborate style, coordinate and supervise all construction activities on sit
• Ensure project is constructed according to drawings, specifications, project schedule and budget
• Partner with management team, including the Project Manager and subcontractors to maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manne
• Maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manner
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community
• Develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budgets are in jeopardy
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholder
• Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Manager
• Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety, progress reports, rental records, logs etc.
• Provide leadership to peers ensuring all site staff are adhering to the company safety culture
• Organize weekly subcontractor meetings
• Supervise, mentor, coach and train project personnel

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and experience
• At least 5+ years previous experience working on renovations within residential and commercial building
• Excellent relationship building skills with strong focus on client relationship
• Supervisory and construction experience in commercial renovation projects up to $10M
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, drawings, specifications, procedures, scheduling and safety requirements
• Proven creative problem solving skills
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with Procore an asset
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals
• Strong relationship and team building skills with proven integrity dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants
