Job Description

The Systems Data Analyst will primarily support the Cost Accounting & Supply Chain Finance team in data analysis, dashboarding, and planning/forecasting system management. This includes acquisition, aggregation, validation, retrieval, standardization, interpretation and distribution of data and information.

The Systems Data Analyst is responsible for applying both technical and financial skills to determine and document accurate business requirements and present these requirements in a timely manner to effectively meet project deadlines and stakeholder needs. The Data Analyst will be the subject matter expert on Leadtec, D365, Power BI and Anaplan, while supporting the team with advanced analytics to help develop the necessary tools for automated reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

General

  • Apply a structured approach to facilitate problem solving, identify root causes, and guide partners to make informed decisions
  • Prepare visual presentations, briefing materials, and other required documentation
  • Design tools and processes for extracting and managing data using new and existing systems
  • Assist in defining and refining key performance indicators (KPIs) that can be tied to business and strategic objectives

Inventory and Standard Costing

  • Define obsolete and excess inventory process, cadence, manage SOP and reports and lead cross-functional collaboration with Product, Sourcing and Sales Planning to reduce obsolescence
  • Develop and generate reports in Power BI/Tableau to support inventory aging and provisioning
  • Build statistical models to help understand cost drivers and activity to support standard costing process specifically overhead allocation to appropriate product categories
  • Create a model to compare Production and Costing BOM in D365 and PLM

Leadtec Database and Reporting:

  • Maintain thorough understanding of all models in Leadtec, and of systems and processes that feeds into the models
  • Validate Standard Allowable Minutes against labour standards and quantify labour variances
  • Work closely with IT/Leadtec analyst to create a database to be used for standardization of labour reporting and payroll reconciliation
  • Create a robust model for variance tracking across production facilities
  • Work closely with the Business Analytics Team to develop/enhance dashboarding and analytics tool to support the Cost Accounting function
  • Participate in formal user requirements processes and ensure that implemented solutions meet identified user requirements
  • Support IT and Operations with selection and implementation of next generation labour tracking tool

Automation and Standardization:

  • Automate month end financial reports to reduce closing time and improve quality of the reports in accordance with Canada Goose objectives
  • Monitor existing key reports and models to ensure data quality & integrity and provide recommendations to improve storytelling and drive business thinking
  • Develop and generate ad-hoc reports and analyses for business needs

Qualifications

Experience, Education and Designations:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience utilizing production shop floor system (Leadtec, preferred)
  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Marketing, Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics field of study
  • Experience with process improvement and ERP ex) SAP, MS Dynamics, Sage etc. preferred
  • Experience translating raw data into actionable insights with effective data visualizations or report designs, using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Cognos etc.
  • Proven ability to analyze, evaluate and make strategic recommendations on strategic questions
  • Strong grasp of Familiarity with Cost Accounting concepts and manufacturing experience preferred
