Job description: The Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA) team at Unity Health Toronto (UHT) is an advanced healthcare data analytics group that uses scientifically rigorous methods to conduct meaningful analyses that generate data-driven insights so clinicians and management can make better decisions, increase hospital efficiency, and improve patient care.
The System Support Administrator is a team player within the DSAA team. Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide day to day maintenance on Linux systems, e.g., authentication services, security services, file and print services, citrix servers, shared drives, home drives etc.;
- Perform accounts administration which includes creating, disabling and expiring users accounts;
- Manage space requirements on home drives and shared drives, working with the end users to understand their needs and requirements and works towards a solution;
- Monitor various systems to ensure systems are performing, as required, checking to identify that there are no issues and/or errors on the systems in their logs;
- Manage and monitor containers and container orchestration system to ensure systems are performing as required.
- Troubleshoots problems that arise with the Linux systems, including: authentication systems, file and print services, container services, etc.;
- Performs preventative maintenance on servers, when required;
- Create and/or participate in the creation of standard operating procedures, as requested;
- Document processes and procedures, when required;
- Maintain active involvement in designated activities of new projects going live, e.g., testing process, etc.;
- Works with other staff in the department to put together test cases and user acceptance testing, implementing results, in a timely manner;
- Assists member of the team with implementing initiatives, as required, etc.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized Bachelor’s degree or a diploma in Computer Science, networking or related field required;
- Five (5) year’s experience in field required; with Linux certification, preferably GCUX, required;
- In depth knowledge of Debian/Ubuntu environment required;
- In depth knowledge of container solutions, e.g. Docker and Kubernetes, required;
- Demonstrated ability to organize and analyze data required;
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change required;
- Demonstrated strong analytical, organization, conceptual and decision making skills with the ability to work within a team environment required;
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms required;
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills required;
- Ability to work in a constantly changing and fast paced environment required;
- Ability to handle situations involving unplanned outages required;
- Ability to function within a 24/7 environment, if needed;
- Well developed problem solving skills required;
- High level of initiative and self direction required;
- Demonstrated leadership and commitment to continuous professional learning required;
