Team Profile:

Technology Risk’s (Tech Risk) mandate is to enable the Firm to manage its technology related risks. The department executes the first line of defense technology risk management capabilities and implements proactive, comprehensive, and consistent risk management practices across the Firm.

Tech Risk protects the Firm’s information, systems, and infrastructure from cyber and insider threats; ensures the secure and stable delivery of services to our clients; and adjusts to risks presented by an evolving threat landscape. The department delivers a range of operational capabilities, as well as suite of advanced detection, monitoring and analytics, and provides expert advice on secure design and development and control effectiveness. Tech Risk manages responses to regulatory and client inquiries about the Firm’s technology environment and ensures Technology divisions meet governance and oversight obligations along all lines of defense, driving material and measurable risk reduction. Tech Risk maintains strategic relationships with external entities, both public and private, to facilitate information sharing and innovation in financial services, technology, and government, and is also responsible for building risk education and security awareness programs to increase vigilance across the Firm.

Position Description:

Morgan Stanley’s Cloud Security Engineering (CSE) team is looking for an experienced Cloud Security Architecture Specialist, to join their established team. The Cloud Security Engineering (CSE) team is part of the Technology and Operations Risk (TOR) organization.

The mission of the team is to protect the Firm by ensuring in-scope technologies built internally, products purchased, and services used meet security requirements that include the Firm’s Policies, external guidelines, regulatory expectations, and appropriate controls in the areas of information security, secure engineering, and cyber security. We accomplish this mission via three primary services: engineering consulting, solutions development, and solutions implementation.

The position will be a key member of the Cloud Security Engineering leadership team and will be leading the team responsible for developing, deploying, and managing security solutions to secure public cloud offerings of providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to help enterprise application teams migrate applications to the cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the cloud security engineering team that will be delivering Workload Security in the Cloud
  • In developing the Workload security organization, the candidate will be responsible for defining the strategy to secure Workloads (Virtual Machines, Containers, and Serverless technologies, to name a few)
  • Develop and deploy the processes and tools to implement and report on the security of workloads in the cloud.
  • Work with Vulnerability Management team to implement reporting and resolution of vulnerabilities related to Cloud Workloads.
  • Work with Cloud Security Assurance and Cloud Organizations on the workload image release process.

Qualifications

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information security, or related experience.
  • Minimum 6 years relevant work experience in a high-paced, enterprise environment.
  • Experience developing and managing an engineering team.

Minimum 2 years experience in at least one of the following Cloud Providers:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Microsoft Azure

Skills Desired:

  • Previous background in networking and workload engineering.
  • Experience in implementing complex systems in an enterprise environment.
  • Previous experience in Financial Services is preferred.
  • Experience with Python and Terraform.
  • CISSP, SANS or other industry qualifications
  • At least one associate level cloud certification or higher from one of the following 3 cloud providers: AWS, GCP, or Azure
