Team Profile:

Technology & Operations COO enables the transformation of Technology, Operations and Firm Resilience by establishing strategic objectives, leading with a clear strategic narrative and achieving results through the delivery of day-to-day operations.

Position Description:

– A key role working in a small team responsible for providing increased transparency of technology costs. The role is to provide metrics and analytics as required and drive organizational change to optimize how we provide financial transparency. Your insight, supporting metrics and guidance will help to support investment decision making across Infrastructure Services.
– An opportunity to build and expand your skills in technology business management by learning and supporting existing expense management, expense allocation and reporting processes and tools, working closely with stakeholders in NY and London.
– Challenging activities that will include building conceptual / proof of concept reports and taking them forward to production.
– Regular interaction with our colleagues in other Technology divisions and Tech Finance business partners to ensure data quality and participate in the report standardization.

Responsibilities:

– Understand the total Technology manpower and infrastructure bill.
– Provide transparency into the Technology bill for Infrastructure Service organizations leveraging Business Unit (BU) Sponsorship to explain Year on Year movements and impact of priority investments:
– Continue to develop existing sponsor driven reporting decks to deliver financial insight into manpower and infrastructure expenditures.
– To complement the above and expand this insight; Develop and implement Infrastructure Estate Management decks incorporating; existing infrastructure costs, demand management, Cloud demand / spend, optimization and reinvestment opportunities.
– Analyze / validate data and variances in order to articulate during client delivery.
– Manage existing client relationships with Senior Division / Super Department management and develop new relationships, following recent organizational restructuring, across Technology and Operations.
– Collaborate with Tech & Ops Business / Portfolio Management & metrics development team to influence transparency strategy, standards, methodology, delivery, insight and increased service provision.
– Partner with BU, Ops and Tech stakeholders to incorporate Front to Back/Platform mappings into client reporting.
– Work with Ops & Tech Portfolio Management teams and Tech & Ops Stakeholders to define, maintain and introduce system generated Platform mappings to support reporting. Establish review process both intra year and annually as part of the budget process.
– Work with Operations and Tech to ensure that the correct parties (Tech & Ops Stakeholders and Business Management) are involved in the Ops Pitch Process (Tech & Ops budget vs. delivery expectations) for 2022. Support this process with data / reporting to ensure that the outcome aligns with Tech budget expectations.
– As Platform approaches are being developed independently by each Division / Super Dept, develop reporting to meet each group’s BU partner expectations and promote standardization where possible.
– Work with groups to prepare for and transition to the finance, firm wide, standard platform model, once an implementation strategy is defined and published.

Qualifications

Skills Required:

– Bachelor’s degree in a related field
– Experience in financial analysis and management reporting
– Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint skills
– Strong planning and organizational skills
– Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
– Ability to work across divisions navigating contrasting cultures and methodologies to deliver collaborative outcomes and manage expectations
– Have an aptitude for and enjoy working with numbers
– Good use of initiative, judgement and decision making
– Ability to multi-task – flexible and adaptive to change and willing to learn and manage a broad range of tasks
– Demonstrated ability to multi-task, deliver timely, accurate and complete work on tight deadlines
– Basic business knowledge and interest – demonstrates willingness to learn about the business and the projects
– Pro-active self-starter approach – able to complete role with minimal supervision, paying close attention to detail. You can identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions

Nice to Have:

– VBA skills
– Experience with SQL, MDX or other expression based languages
– Experience with interactive data visualization software (such as Tableau or QlikView)
– Experience in supporting a Technology department in budgeting and financial management
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Access & relational databases / reporting cubes
