About the Team:

The Product Systems team supports lululemon’s commitment to elevate our guests experience through the strategic delivery of reliable and sustainable solutions from Product concept to Finished goods production.

Job Mandate:

The Product Systems organization is seeking a talented Technology Manager that will oversee development team(s) working to lululemon’s Sustainability & Product Quality, Audits, Inspections (QMS) domains. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the success of your team and will proactively identify the most high-value deliverables and keep your team focused on shipping quality code. By partnering closely with the business and project leads you help manage project scope and ensure stakeholder expectations are managed and met. You are experienced in building production systems in cloud-native and hybrid environments where “automation” and “Infrastructure as Code” are guiding principles that enable you to guide teams and partners toward best practices that allow progress to be made quickly and sustainably.

You are an independent manager who is comfortable managing team members with different skill sets from your own and you can communicate expectations clearly to all team members. In addition to strong management skills, you act as a leader for the technical roadmap for your team and you communicate timeline, scope and risks to partners and stakeholders, and lead the delivery of major initiatives on clear timelines. You identify areas of strategic technical debt, do the cost/benefit analysis for resolving this debt and communicate suggested timelines for prioritizing this to the management team.

You demonstrate leadership by supporting the growth and development of your team as a whole and individually. Goal setting is as integral to lululemon as yoga and you facilitate your team’s participation in our Vision & Goals program. This is not about your performance. This is about defining what is authentically important for you and your team and then setting out to make it happen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Engineers and Analysts across multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staff
  • Guide teams toward architecture, design and code and participate in architecture, design and code reviews
  • Adjust process and timeline to ensure that high quality deliverables are produced within budget
  • Ensure your team produces software that is HA, monitorable and maintainable
  • Demonstrates thought leadership and mentors engineers to leverage technology best practices around architecture and design
  • Provide technical direction and ensure the right skills are being used to solve the right problems across your team
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
  • Help define & implement IT infrastructure(Cloud first) strategy, architecture, and processes
  • Identify and remove roadblocks to success

Support Activities:

  • Participates in all phases of projects including development, design, testing and production planning, reviewing and approving deliverables. This requires familiarity with programming languages, design paradigms, database technologies, cloud & infrastructure services and security practices.
  • Provides input into Capability road map, architecture and engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinates resource on-boarding and off-boarding
  • Advises and help implement industry best practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or Business Administration
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Retail packaged software implementation
  • Experience with Cloud environment
  • Experience with Vendor management for delivery and operations

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ Total experience; 2+ years’ experience in senior engineering and 2+ years’ experience as a people manager
  • Strong Software Development background, preferably leveraging Agile methodology
  • Comfortable working in complex and large-scale production environments
  • Prior experience in the retail industry (Desired)
