Purpose of Job
The Technology Sales Specialist (TSS) is responsible for developing relationships and penetrating IT products in existing Strategic, Large and Mid-Market Accounts within a geographic territory. The TSS serves as the subject matter expert for his/her assigned sales representatives and works with them to grow and develop the IT product category. The TSS is the key point of contact within the division regarding the sales of IT supplies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with their Sales Manager to develop IT Supplies sales strategies for their assigned territory/division
- Trains and coaches OP sales representatives on IT products, processes and buyers to increase their ability to access, persuade and close IT business
- Conducts joint sales calls with sales reps to assist them in closing the sale
- Participation in current account business reviews to introduce IT Supplies and increase revenue while adding value to the account
- Provides expertise and input to the corporate-wide IT Supplies program regarding product selection, training and issue resolution.
- Achieve IT products revenue and gross margin targets in defined division
- Achieve retention and penetration of IT products in existing OP accounts and new IT Accounts
- Target Segment – Strategic, Large and Mid-Market Accounts, geographic territory, above $20,000 in annual sales potential
- Time allocation – 60% customer, 40% non-customer
Business relationships and interactions
- Internal communications – Senior Management team, Sales Team, associates
- External communication – customers, clients and suppliers
- Internal support – tech support centre & Ergonomic tech partner
Budget Accountability
- Budget oversight – 5 million
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Primarily working on the road and at home
- Travel – Required to travel to other office locations, customer meetings, and conferences.

- Ability to function independently with little or no supervision as well as working effectively in a team environment
Recommended Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of selling experience penetrating or maintaining accounts
- Previous IT product industry experience
- Strong knowledge and understanding of telesales and the sales planning process.
- Strong computer literacy (experience with Salesforce.com and SAVO an asset)
Education:
- Post-secondary education in business related discipline – Diploma or Degree preferred.
