A regular full time Theatre Marketing Specialist opportunity is available in the Arts & Culture Division of the Community Services Department.
Majestic mountains, the rugged West Coast Trail, serene lakes, and one of the world’s tallest free-standing timber rail trestles all lie in the picturesque Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). Located on Vancouver Island, the CVRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 80,000 within its 4 distinct municipalities and 9 electoral areas. General Information
Reporting to the Manager, Arts & Culture Division, the Theatre Marketing Specialist is responsible for the planning, organization and operation of general and specific advertising and marketing campaigns for the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre’s annual presenting season and events.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- A Bachelor of Arts or a diploma from a community college in marketing, publicity or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- A certificate in graphic design or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Experience
- A minimum of four years’ related experience in marketing and promotion with a minimum of four years’ experience working with web designers and graphic designers
- Personal experience in graphic design and/or art direction
- Experience working at a theatre or arts organization
- Experience in preparing and negotiating sponsorships packages
- Personal experience in web design is considered an asset

Hours of Work:
The hours of work are 35 hours per week and may include days, evenings and weekends. Attendance at performances to take photographs and do social media posts is required.
Salary:
This position is unionized (IATSE Local 168) and is compensated at a wage rate of $32.34 per hour (2021 rates). Flex time and a comprehensive benefits package are offered with this position.
