As part of the management team, the director of finance must have strong leadership, management, technology, analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills. How you will make an impact
– Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
– Maintains and reviews budgeting and forecasting models
– Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
– Supervise all operations of the finance and accounting department
– Ensure adherence to budgetary reporting requirements, including local, state, and federal
– Oversee the preparation of all financial reports
– Manage the composition of financial outlooks and financial forecasts
– Own financial planning and budget management functions
– Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the departments goals and objectives
– Propose benchmarks for analyzing financial and operating performance
– Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions
– Create and manage five-year business plans along with department managers
– Take ownership of insurance and risk management
– Oversee all hiring aspects of finance staff, including training and retention
