Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health & Addictions, the Registered Nurse works to full scope of practice as an independent practitioner within a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team, and is responsible for a full range of systems-informed primary care treatment. Responsibilities include assessment, treatment planning, withdrawal management, counseling, team leadership, and discharge planning and for ensuring optimal levels of client care in programming related to withdrawal management and wellness day programming. Community outreach will be integral to this role.
The Registered Nurse carries out all responsibilities and activities in congruence with the mission, policies, goals and objectives and organizational structure of Mental Health & Addiction Services, and the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
Qualifications
- Diploma RN or Baccalaureate degree in nursing
- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
- Experience working in a team environment
- Ability to work within Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to use general office equipment and audiovisual equipment
- Ability to use medical equipment involved in client assessment and care
- Demonstrated knowledge of population health as it relates to prevention, health promotion and treatment approaches
- Demonstrated understanding of family and social networks as systems/emotional units
- Knowledge of a community-based approach to service delivery
- Motivated with a strong customer service orientation building solid health care client/partner relationships
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize information, problem solve and utilize good judgment in decision making
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives and evidence based practice

Salary Information
Registered Nurse (RN-2):
$35.21 – $41.48 hourly
($42.94 with 25 years of Registered Nurse experience).
