This role consists of being responsible for the design, development and management of the entire range of investment solutions offered by the Desjardins Group to its members and clients across Canada. On a daily basis, the successful candidate will lead and oversee the activities of teams specialized in developing funds (mutual funds, private pool funds, ETFs), guaranteed investment funds, annuities, market-linked term investments (GICs and structured notes), as well as term savings for the Desjardins Caisses network. Supported by a team of experts, the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into the investment’s management will be an integral part of these responsibilities.
As Director, you will create the product development and evolution plans, in line with Desjardins’ strategic plan, for the various distribution networks that form our client base. You will be responsible for the pricing and risk management of the solutions developed.
You will use your skills to develop talent and reach specific results to achieve the group’s goals. You must be able to effectively manage teams of seasoned professionals, ensure complete and accurate reporting, and always work in the interests of our investors. You will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer for the investment solutions manufacturer and be accountable for its business results.
You will work closely with business development teams to thoroughly understand the needs of investors and financial advisors across Canada.
You will be fully accountable for the performance of the solutions distributed in the market and for the managers selected for the awarded mandates. In this role, you will supervise the portfolio manager selection team as part of our open portfolio management architecture.

Main responsibilities

Ensure the development and implementation of the strategic plan for investment solutions, and the ensuing action plan, in line with the Desjardins Group’s strategic direction

Manage the operations of all activities related to the development and management of investment solutions for Desjardins’ members and clients

Establish management and communication practices that favour change management, talent attraction and retention, skills development, mobilization, and diversity, aligned to the organization’s values

Manage the individual performance of direct reports, as well as team performance, with a view to achieving the unit’s strategic plan

Continuously improve the processes linked to these responsibilities

Participate in the various cross-departmental initiatives within the Desjardins Group

Bring the Desjardins Group’s cooperative values to life

Represent the organization and maintain industry awareness.

Other working conditions

Work location: Currently on regular telework due to the pandemic. Place of business Montreal or Levis according to the preference of the selected candidate. The work mode applicable to the position is the hybrid mode

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field

A minimum of ten years of relevant experience, including six years in management

A master’s degree is an important asset

Hold CFA designation (an asset)

For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required

Specific knowledge

Very strong knowledge of the investment solutions market, its regulations, taxation, and technologies

Good knowledge of responsible investment (an asset)

Good communication skills in French and English, both oral and written
