UHN uses SAP as its Corporate and Research Finance system. In order to keep pace with growth and to support the diversity of business functions at UHN strategies to rapidly advance and optimize the use of technology have been prioritized as part of UHN’s Finance Transformation Roadmap. In order to support the transformation with improved financial business processes, intelligent automation and advanced analytics, UHN is implementing the SAP S4/HANA solution.

Overview of the Position:

The Digital Team at UHN supports impactful delivery of solutions benefiting the health system; discovers, validates, designs and delivers opportunities of change, and brings contextual awareness through data to ensure successful implementations, value and outcomes for UHN’s patients.

An exciting opportunity is available to showcase your talents as a Transformation Change Management & Communications Lead. This position will play a key role in ensuring project objectives are met on time and budget by developing change management and communication strategies and plans that maximize end-user adoption and usage of the S/4HANA system and minimize resistance. The Change Management & Communications Lead will focus on the people side of change, and will work in conjunction with other key stakeholders across the Finance, Supply Chain/Procurement and Research departments.

The Change Management & Communication Lead will also act as a coach for senior leaders and executives in helping them fulfill their role as change and communication sponsors. The Change

Management & Communication lead will support project teams in integrating change management and communication activities into their project plans, and will provide direct support and coaching to front-line managers and supervisors. The Change Management & Communications lead is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the communications strategy and tactics for the SAP Transformation project through the planning and implementation phases of the project.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Apply evidence-based change management and communication methodologies and ensuing practices to support adoption of the SAP system across UHN, to develop the change management and communication strategy and framework and tactical plan;
  • Lead the implementation of the change management strategy for the SAP Transformation project based on awareness of specific projects and the groups being impacted by the change;
  • Integrate change management activities into the SAP project and apply the change management methodologies;
  • Assess the change impact analysis, conduct readiness assessments and identify key stakeholders;
  • Create and manage measurement systems to track adoption, utilization and proficiency of changes initiatives;
  • Evaluate change impact results and present findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner, resulting in a set of actionable and targeted change management plans – including a communication plan, sponsor roadmap, stakeholders assessment, coaching plan, training plan, resistance management plan and post go-live user adoption monitoring and sustainability plan;
  • Ensure alignment with Change Management Methodologies and Corporate Communication principles by working closely with Organizational Development/Human Resources in the formulation of particular plans and activities to support project implementation;
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of communications for the SAP project in alignment with the overall change management strategy;
  • Support the creation, delivery and promotion of written and visual content for multiple internal audiences, including the project team, decision-making stakeholders, and end-users;
  • Provide strategic support in crafting town hall content and messages, including key messages and hot topics;
  • Develop Board and executive presentations for the SAP Transformation project;
  • Contribute to creating templates for decentralized communication, and providing communication guidance to UHN stakeholders;
  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to the project management team;
  • Support training efforts by providing input, document requirements and support the design and delivery of training programs.

Experience, Education and Certifications

  • 5+ years of experience in developing, implementing and leading Change Management plans for large-scale ERP systems or equivalent; 10+ years of experience preferred;
  • Graduate degree or equivalent combination of Change Management experience and education is required;
  • Advanced training and/or certification in a Change Management methodology is required;
  • Other certifications (PMP, Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt, ITIL, IIBA) are an asset;
  • Minimum of 5 years writing experience in internal communications or public relations agency settings;
  • Degree/diploma in journalism, public relations, communications or a related area is required;
  • 3+ years of experience using PowerPoint to create decks, handouts, and other visually-rich materials;
  • Advise and ensure that proper communications channels and tactics are used, based on message, audience;
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal skills;
  • Ability to convert complex information to plain language;
  • Ability to rapidly write short, engaging content for broad audience;
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional presentation, facilitation and communication skills – both written and verbal;
  • Well-versed in internal communication practices and change communication best practices;
  • Ability to work in large-scale and complex project team environment, with multiple and varied stakeholder groups;
  • Draw upon expert level negotiation skills, and conflict resolution strategies, to work with external and internal stakeholders, obtaining buy-in and support to ensure the success of projects and
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences;
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships;
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal;
  • Ability to set priorities in the face of myriad demands and converging deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations;
  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics;
  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills;
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.

Meetings and Travel: Office is in the Toronto Downtown area (Yonge/Dundas). Due to COVID our team has transformed to a mostly virtual team.
