Reporting directly to the Inventory Management Team Lead, the Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for inventory management and supports procurement for Central Pharmacy Services located in Mississauga. The inventory specialist is responsible for developing and implementing inventory management policies, processes and procedures based on industry best practices. They will be responsible for analyzing and monitoring purchase and inventory trends to ensure overall goals in service levels, actively identifying opportunities for improvements and enabling standardization across all operations.

Responsible to develop and maintain inventory management policies, process and procedures based on industry best practices

Responsible for implementation of inventory management system for Central Pharmacy Services located in Mississauga and supporting maintenance

Monitors and analyzes purchase and inventory trends, inventory investment and returns revenue to ensure overall goals in service level and other key performance indicators are achieved

Manages the relationship with Inventory and Procurement teams to provide effective communication of changes to purchase habits as well as resolutions to product shortages, damages, long-term unavailability and discontinued.

Reviews clinical and operations initiatives to determine inventory needs, taking into account current on hand inventory and the required lead times to ensure Central Pharmacy Services can execute on initiatives

Acts as Inventory Management process owner and actively support projects/initiatives that impact Inventory Management

Actively seeks out opportunities for improvement within the scope of Inventory Management to meet performance, quality and financial targets

Partners with operational site and other teams to ensure effective resolution of all inventory related issues

Maintain proper storage of medications within the pharmacy according to 5S principles

Ensure stock bottles are put away in accordance with established workflow

Maintaining perpetual inventory system

Manage customer returns and expired products in accordance with established disposal protocol (e.g. Stericycle One Box)

Prioritize recalls and immediately isolate product; quarantine until details of the recall are provided

Management of preferred generic product e.g. DSP

Monitor and maintain MMS by performing daily Inventory tasks like Holding tanks, updating UPCs, utilizing suggested orders

Maintain Overstock to ensure the uninterrupted supply of all products

Work closely with the Pharmacists to prepare store communications for product availability updates

Track and communicate low stock and out of stock situations according to pharmacy procedures

Others:

Unpack and receive pharmacy totes inside pharmacy in a secure environment

Ensure narcotic inventory is detail received and records updated under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist

Put away received pharmacy inventory in appropriate location in accordance with established workflow

Ensure stock rotation is completed and expired product is removed from the shelf and returned in accordance with standard operating procedures

Perform cycle counts in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures

Carry out daily inventory task, including, but not limited to placing Orders, maintaining MSLs, receiving orders, investigating discrepancies

Order and maintain non-prescription merchandise in the dispensary, including stock rotation and the management of expired product

What you will need:

University Degree

3-5 years in Pharmacy inventory management

Strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively source information, obtain approvals, build relationships, and provide sufficient influence to achieve success

Creative problem solver and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work with a high degree of detail and accuracy while adapting to multiple priorities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
