Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM’s state-of-the-art Client Innovation Centre (CIC) opened in Nova Scotia in March 2013 and is the first of its kind in Canada. The Centre weaves together IBM’s business insights and industry-leading software portfolio and is ideally suited for any client that needs flexible access to emerging or niche skills that may not be cost effective to grow internally. We are currently looking a Windows System Administration consultant.
Key Skills Needed:
- Knowledge of IBM App Connect Enterprise (formerly IBM Integration Bus / WebSphere Message Broker)
- Knowledge of IBM WebSphere Application Server
- General System / Server Administration (MS Windows 2016) such as:
- System health monitoring.
- Monitor system performance.
- Anticipating potential problems and taking action to solve them before they impact users when possible
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and correct hardware and software issues on servers, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary.
- Reviewing application logs
- Install software.
- Web service administration & configurations. (IIS and Apache)
- Manages, deploys, configures, and maintains servers in a virtualized environment.
- Assists in creating scripts to monitor systems, diagnostics, resolve issues, and automate routine tasks.
- Deploying and configuring business applications.
- After-hours/On-call systems support.
- Familiar with Incident and Change Management tools
- Managing and configuring system monitoring tools e.g. Pager-Duty and Nagios
- Monitoring business applications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Windows System Administration
- Active Directory Windows Server 2003 and 2008 ,2012
- VMWare and Citrix
- LAN/WAN Administration
- Unix (putty)
- Systems Installation
Role location – Bedford, Nova Scotia
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Knowledge of IBM App Connect Enterprise (formerly IBM Integration Bus / WebSphere Message Broker)
- Knowledge of IBM WebSphere Application Server

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- After-hours/On-call systems support.
- Familiar with Incident and Change Management tools

Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
