Have a DBA mindset with strong data engineering skills also
Understand the complexities of the database engine
Be comfortable with low level troubleshooting, in the depths of the DB
Proficient in database tuning (at the initialization point)
Understand the complexities of advanced techniques e.g. table partitioning
Help guide on / create SoP around database errors
Log location
Extract data from logs
Pin point issues that are happening at the database engine layer
Understand how we can segregate data in a schematic way and do so efficiently
Help with D/R and how this can be best provided
Support DE team to help with tuning of “heavy hitting” code
Support upgrade initiatives and help with post upgrade steps
AWS hands on is required.
Tasks in Detail :
Install and configure databases on-premise and cloud preferably AWS aurora postgresql
Administration of postgresql databases throughout the development through production lifecycles in AWS
Monitor size of databases on AWS and recommend increase or decrease in the current size.
Set up alerts on postgresql resources on AWS like cpu, memory, iops, storage and deadlocks.
Review of performance of postgresql database
experience in backup and recovery
experience in postgresql maintenance tasks
Performance tuning, checking long running queries and tuning them.
Provide guidance on the creation and modification of postgresql functions
experience in table partitioning
experience in replication
