Specific Description About the Department/Faculty (Optional)

The Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) department leverages a collaborative, socio-ecological model for student development and care. The cross-functional team includes Student Connection and Community Care (Office of Student Community Standards, Student Support and Intervention Coordinators), Residence Life and Education, Testing Services, and Student Wellbeing (Accessible Learning and Counselling Services, Wellness Education and Programs, and the Health Centre). The SWEL team offer pan-College services across all Humber College/University of Guelph-Humber campuses.

Status: 12 month Contract

Hours: 37.5

What you will do:

Reporting to the Director, SWEL Operations and Development, the Administrative Manager is a collaborative, solution-focused, systems-oriented leader who ensures effective and efficient workflows and coordination to support portfolio-wide objectives. Focused on both outcome and process accountability, the Administrative Manager will ensure adequate support to the Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) portfolio leadership team as it pertains to logistics coordination; human resources (coordinated recruitment, selection, onboarding, and offboarding); financial planning, billing, and reconciliation; systems; communications; research and special projects.

The Administrative Manager provides guidance and direction to a team focused on achieving these outcomes; including Administrative Coordinators, a Systems Specialist, and a Communications Project Coordinator.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

Education:

Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration. Project Management Professional (PMP) or CAPM Certification would be considered an asset.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in administrative coordination and budget management with a proven record of achievement and success
  • Ability to work within, coach, and support interdisciplinary teams toward fostering a collaborative work environment and positive outcomes using project management principles
  • Strong project management, organizational, communication (written and verbal), and self-management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining positive, evidence-informed, solution-focused, and equitable learning, service, and team environments through effective facilitation, planning, and research
  • Demonstrated supervisory / employee development skills (both direct and functional) including training and onboarding, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
  • Knowledge of budget planning, cost estimating, monitoring and financial forecasting, as well as fiscal management principles and procedures
  • Working knowledge of grants and contract administration
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with strong knowledge in sector standards, applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements pertaining to teams within the SWEL portfolio
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, as well as developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
