Eligibility

Our next internship program runs through the summer of 2022. We’re looking for students who are working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent), and due to complete their studies to be available for a full time role commencing in 2023.

About the role

You will be an Intern in the Global Data Delivery and Innovation team in Calgary. This team supports Energy & Natural Resources and Midstream, Downstream and Chemicals division at IHS Markit. The Data Delivery and Innovation Product Owner supports the product lifecycle and is responsible for the assisting with product strategy, vision, and technology roadmaps.

Key responsibilities include:

• Responsible for documenting market requirements to support customer workflow problems.
• Learning exploration workflows and testing them with our products, suggesting features and working with internal stakeholders or clients to gather requirements
• Works with Product Marketing and Commercialization to create effective customer value propositions that result in customer adoption of new products or enhancements to existing products
• Collaborate with team members and work directly with business units to define, prototype and showcase results.

To be an ideal fit for the role, you should have:

• A bachelor or master’s degree (or equivalent) completed no later than May 2023) in Information Systems, Data Analytics or related field
• 0-6 months relevant work experience
• Proficiency or exposure to data management
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Be an effective communicator, self-motivated, and able to drive insights into actions
• An aptitude to learn new technologies
• The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting
• Be legally eligible to work for the duration of the program in the country for which you apply

For Data Delivery and Innovation Product Owner applicants, we recommend the following:

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Spotfire, or Tableau
• Proficient SQL and database experience
• Ability to explain a technical subject to a non-technical audience
• Experience with scientific scripting languages (e.g., Python, R)
• Knowledge of the energy industry, understanding the different challenges and potential solutions
