ABOUT YOUR ROLE
The role of the Analyst is to ensure the administrative and operational processing of market events (stock splits, tender offers, share exchanges, etc.). He/She ensures the information provided on a daily basis (by the provider and the trustee), are in compliance and up to date. He/She must monitor data comparison reports and perform research, if required, send the information to the portfolio managers, answer the trustee within the required timeframes and carry out follow-ups. The analyst is also responsible for managing and settling securities borrowing and lending activities, and analyzing reconciliations of transactions and positions
As an Analyst, Investment Administration, you’ll:
Analyse market events; notify the portfolio managers and ensure follow up; notify the trustee within the required timeframes for options events; process the events in the system and follow up on payments with the trustee.
Update a list of restricted securities
Manage the operational process, settlement and matching of securities lending and borrowing between portfolios, counterparties, and the trustee. Monitor manufactured dividends and fee payments related to this activity.
Analyse, document and follow up on all types of variances raised for his (her) activities
Analyse all discrepancies of positions/transactions between the investment accounting system and the trustee, as well as counterparties
Produce a monthly transaction statistic used for internal management purposes.
Document new tasks and changes and ensure regular updates of the procedure manual.
Contribute to the implementation and application of the control process.
Ensure succession planning and help co-workers during rush periods with the group’s operations.
Participate in various projects or special requests assigned by his (her) line supervisor.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent
At least five years’ relevant experience
Thorough understanding of the control environment is essential
Administrative knowledge of the following financial products: fixed-income securities, listed securities (Canadian and international)
Knowledge of accounting for market events and securities lending and borrowing
Proficiency with computers — Excel (functions and macros) and MS Office, Access
SQL
Equilend
Simcorp Dimension
Fluent in French and English, spoken and written
Practical knowledge of the administrative system is an asset
Team player and strong communicator
Detail oriented
Proactive and takes initiative
Autonomous
Organized and able to multi-task
