Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

As the Business Analyst, you will be part of our Strategy & Delivery team to be the subject matter expert on processes related to the reporting of operational losses. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end reconciliation and executing investigations for individual loss incidents. You will be combing through data to identify new developing fraud trends and interpret results to determine risk attributes, loss trends, root causes and key drivers of operational losses.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Analytics – Manage complex statistical analysis/analytics and interpret results to determine risk attributes, loss trends, loss forecasts, root causes and key drivers of operational losses. Design, development of code and processes to carry out the extraction, manipulation, transformation and delivery of data extracts & data sets in SQL, SAS & Alteryx. Create processes and code to automate delivery of new and existing standard analytics & reporting in SAS and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Access & Tableau). Deliver moderately complex data quality extract and manipulation reviews using SAS / SQL and deliver feedback to Decision Support on those reviews. Apply creative thinking to overcome limitations in data availability and data quality.
  • Reporting – Perform data aggregation for specified reporting needs and ad hoc analysis. Use judgment to identify inappropriate reporting of operational losses and action with key partners to investigate, implement and monitor solutions regarding reporting errors.
  • Engagement and Communication – Create communication based on factual findings, that is suitable for a broad audience who may not have a deep understanding of fraud and risk. Collaborate with peers to determine root cause of loss reporting discrepancies and make recommendations regarding each incident

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience with You can demonstrate experience in advanced quantitative business and statistical analysis. You have experience using analytical, data management and visualization tools, such as SAS, R, Python, SQL, Tableau, VBA. Knowledge of CIBC data sources, applications, and system platforms is an asset. 3+ years of work experience in a fast paced analytics environment.
