Position Summary

Under the direction of the Cafeteria Supervisor, the Cashier provides customer service in a courteous and timely manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: customer service, operating cash register and handling cash receipts, serving meals to staff and visitors, distributing food and dishes to service areas; assisting in the simple preparation and portioning of food as per duty lists; assisting in light cleaning throughout the Department. The Cashier will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of the service.

Hours of Work

Variable shifts, Monday-Friday, Weekends, Holidays; 24 hour operation. Backshifts and flexible hours required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Proven customer service experience required.
  • Proven experience working a cash register and handling cash required
  • Previous experience in a hospital or commercial food service preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others as a member of a team required.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend and complete scheduled shifts on a regular and timely basis required.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both verbally and written, required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
