As Climate & Agriculture Policy Lead within RBC Economics & Thought Leadership, you will support this mission by driving national and sectoral dialogue and action on climate risks and opportunities, transition pathways, clean innovation, public policy levers and a socially-inclusive transition. We are looking for a creative, insightful and energetic leader who excels in an environment where they are challenged to use their intellectual curiosity and abilities to generate insightful analysis and drive collaborative action. What will you do?
- Build and maintain a network of key stakeholders and influencers across the agriculture and sustainability ecosystem, and with subject matter experts and client-relationship holders across RBC.
- Propose and manage new partnership programs and collaborative initiatives, with both public and private sector entities, to drive progress on net zero pathways in Canadian food and agriculture.
- Track, analyze, and produce insights on the implications of major public policy developments and trends on Canada’s agriculture sector and pathways to achieving net zero.
- Propose and conduct innovative analysis on trends impacting sustainability in the Canadian agriculture sector, including technological change, labour market trends, corporate policies, consumer behaviour, and global events.
- Clearly communicate insights to internal and external stakeholders and clients through a variety of channels, including articles, media, presentations and briefings.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- A post-graduate degree in Agriculture, Economics, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or Science, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in economic and/or policy analysis and research on climate change, energy, sustainability and/or agriculture and agri-food in Canada.
- Demonstrated ability to build and leverage professional networks to drive cross-sectoral collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, incisive and thoughtful analysis within tight time constraints.
- Curiosity-driven, growth mindset, and passion for climate policy.
Nice-to-have
- Hands-on experience working in agriculture production or agri-food processing
- Experience working in a governmental or civil society organization focused on agriculture, sustainability, economic development or another related field
- International work experience
- French language skills
