We have an exciting role and challenging opportunity for an experienced Bi Lingual Leave of Absence (LOA) professional to join our team. Reporting to the Benefits and Well-being Manager, the incumbent’s primary role is to manage a portfolio of work absences due to illness or injury as well as a portfolio that focuses on preventing absences with our stay at work program. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual with demonstrated disability claims experience, return to work/stay at work experience, critical thinking skills and HR consulting capabilities.

Your Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of leave of absences, short-term and long-term claims from inception to completion for employees in North America across multiple business lines using established processes

Handle assigned stay at work/accommodation cases and work with all stakeholders to determine the best outcome

Work collaboratively with internal subject matter experts including but not limited to vendors, legal counsel, HR business partners, managers and supervisors as needed to assist ill or injured employees to a sustained and productive return to work

As an integral member of the LOA team, you will provide mentoring and coaching to less-experienced team members and collaborate with the LOA team to contribute ideas, suggest possible efficiencies to current processes and help drive continuous improvement

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Ability to handle disability claims coordination and return to work/stay at work experience in a compassionate manner

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to communicate in a professional, timely manner with applicable regulatory requirements in mind

Problem solving and critical thinking skills

Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgement

Strong MS Office Suite skills

Experience with HRIS systems (preferably Oracle)

Disability Management certification preferred

Strong understanding of contracts, regulatory requirements, medical terminology, general benefits knowledge, insurance, disability, accommodation and return to work practices across North America are all areas in which you have intermediate to advanced experience

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Health, Human Resources, Business or related field

Minimum of 2-3 years of related work experience

Bilingual in French is required

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
