The Executive Council Office (ECO) is non-departmental in function and purpose. It serves the Executive Council (“Cabinet”) and its committees, as well as departments, agencies, boards and commissions. The office aims to ensure that the business of Cabinet and its committees is well-informed and advances the priorities of government.
About Our Opportunity
We’re hiring for a master multi-tasker with excellent organizational skills for our Coordinator of Information Management. This is a critical role on our team, looking after the development, planning, coordination, implementation, and management of our records and information holdings program (databases, records, websites, and IT infrastructure/assets) and the eCabinet program for the Executive Offices (Executive Council Office and Office of the Premier).
Primary Accountabilities
In this key role, will count on your expertise to support the objectives of the Offices, and provide advice information management strategies, in addition to tactical plans, that enhance the delivery of best practices for information and record management goals for the department. A few of your key accountabilities will include:
- Analyzing and planning information and records management efforts, and ensuring the efficient and effective management and security of programs and systems
- Ensuring consistency of practices in accordance with the Government Records Act, the Public Archives Act, and other Government policies
- Providing training, information sessions, advice and expertise as the department’s subject expert and official activity records management designate
- Managing the internal eCabinet program
- Coordinating technology infrastructure and assets, including hardware and software
- Leading the annual Information Technology (IT) Refresh strategy collaborating with the Department of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services (NS Digital Services – NSDS)
- Managing the publishing process and coordination of multiple websites, intranets, and policy manuals
- And coordinating the onboarding and offboarding of the Offices’ employees with respect to technology, telecommunications, security, and space requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
You have completed a related bachelor’s degree in Business or Office Administration and have several years experience in office coordination.
You must demonstrate familiarity with records and information management programs, along with security of information. Experience with STOR/STAR is highly desirable.
Essential to your success in the role is your ability to work in collaboration with stakeholders, as well as independently. You have strong organizational skills, can balance competing priorities, and demonstrate exceptional written and oral communications skills with a strong eye for details. You must have sound analytical skills information in performing job responsibilities for accuracy of information by concentrating on computer screen, phone call, email messages, staff inquiries and information requests.
Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Analytical Thinking, Adaptability and, Flexibility, Attention to Detail, Outcome Focus, Effective Interactive Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions
We work in a highly confidential and fast paced office work environment. You must be comfortable taking quick action and be able to balances requests. At times, you will have to lift heavy file boxes and IT equipment, and work in basements, warehouses, and other records management storage areas where there may be exposure to dust. Your normal work week is Monday – Friday, 35 hours a week, however occasionally, you may be required to work beyond normal office hours.

Pay Grade: EC 08
Salary Range: $2,300.63 – $2,882.42 Bi-Weekly
