Our Hamilton area client is an established not-for-profit organization with strong ties to the community. They operate tirelessly to provide services to those in need. As a result of a recent reorganization, they are expanding the Senior Leadership Team and adding a Director of Finance & Administration to the team. This is a HYBRID position with the opportunity to work up to 2 days from home. In addition, for the right candidate who is able to accomplish 5 days of work in 4, there is the possibility for part-time hours (4 day work week).
The Role
The Director of Finance & Administration reports to the CEO and manages all aspects of Finance, IT, Administration and Facilities. You will be responsible for closing the month end, preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation, budgeting and forecasting.
What do you bring to the role?
To be considered for this position, you must be a CPA with 3+ years of Finance and Accounting experience. You should have a broad knowledge of Financial Accounting, Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting. Knowledge of the Accounting and Tax issues facing not-for-profit organizations would be preferred. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who have managed multiple functions (Finance, IT, Administration). Our client will consider CPA’s coming straight from public accounting. Although not-for-profit experience is an advantage and preferred, it is not necessary.

Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for all aspects of Finance, IT, Facilities and Administration
- Manage the month end close
- Oversee full-cycle accounting
- Prepare financial statements
- Variance analysis of actual results compared to budget and forecast
- Lead budgeting and forecasting process
- Lead strategic direction of the organization and lead the planning process
- Lead process improvements and establish policies and procedures
- Responsible for government remittances and tax information
- Must be willing to attend approximately 6 evening meetings per year with the Board of Directors, Committees as well as the AGM
