Job description: Job Description Our client, a large Oil & Gas company is seeking an Engineer or Engineering Technologist for the Health and Safety Group reporting to the Emergency Management Lead.
The Emergency Management Engineer will work within the client’s Emergency Management Program to ensure accurate Emergency Planning Zones are in calculated for all assets that allow for emergency planning activities to be completed to develop Emergency Response Plans.
The role will utilize knowledge of technical emergency management, oil & gas operational and regulatory requirements daily.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist with completing or validating calculations on data gathered to determine Emergency Planning Zones (EPZs) for sour wells, pipelines and production facilities using the ERCBH2S software Model
- Work with various teams (production, pipelines and surface land) to assist in determining pipelines specs and ESD valves location for new projects based on setback requirements
- Conduct gas to liquid ratio analysis for oil effluent pipelines lines EPZ calculation.
- Prepare audit document as required and maintain a professional communication with Regulatory bodies (AER/OGC/CEPA/NEB)
- Maintain information on public / stakeholders located in EPZs
- Determine and maintain accurate information on mapping required for ERPs
- Interact with Government agencies as required to maintain complete and accurate ERPs
- Co-ordinate field consultant work for ground truthing
- Periodic trips to the field may be required for gathering information and to provide Operations personnel training on ERPs
Competencies:
- Must be familiar with government regulatory requirements (AER -D 56, D71, OGC – Emergency Management Regulation, CEPA- E2 Regulations, CER-OPR Onshore Pipeline Regulations, CSAZ246.2).
- Must be familiar with oil and gas operations (gathering systems, gas analysis, pipeline flows etc.).
- Experience using mapping programs and tools (IHSAccumap, Petro Lab).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power point).
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to work with minimal direction and attention to detail is critical to this role.
Education & Training
- High School Diploma or GED
- Diploma or Degree in emergency management or planning is an asset.
Experience
- 3+ years of related industry experience required
- Incident Command System (ICS) 100-300 an asset
