Department Overview

The Corporate Segment Reporting & Analysis team, as part of the Corporate Segment Finance team, is responsible for managing, analyzing, reporting and forecasting the Corporate segment financial results to ensure the right governance and challenge is provided. This includes a mandate to improve the transparency and meaningfulness of the results, while striving for continuous improvement in analytics and forecasting capabilities. This represents an excellent opportunity for a candidate to understand a wide variety of Corporate areas and to develop an understanding of how various functions’ activities impact Financial and Management reporting. The team also acts as a Centralized source for consolidated reporting and analytics and strives to increase efficiency in the reporting of the broader Corporate Segment Finance expense advisory teams.

Job Description

The position will encompass a range of responsibilities in respect of the management reporting and analysis of Corporate segment results and Corporate area expenses, including:

  • Assist in development and maintenance of standardized expense packages for each reporting period including preparation of interactive dashboard and reporting decks, including designing waterfall charts or graphs as required. Ongoing design and maintenance of data visualization dashboards will be required.
  • Assist in production of Monthly and Quarterly Operating Results for Expenses and Corporate Segment net income. Coordinating the effort with the Senior Analyst to consolidate expense results, working with business partners to ensure information is received timely and in an accurate manner.
  • Assist in production and coordination efforts of the quarterly forecasts and annual plan.
  • Investigate variances and assist in timely resolution of issues and escalate any issues, if required, to Senior Analyst and AVP.
  • Assist AVP/Manager/Senior Analyst in initiatives supporting expense automation, report centralization and standardization and other process initiatives.
  • Review design of existing processes to assess if any changes are required and come up with recommendations.
  • Maintain good relations with all internal stakeholders and ensure that all their requirements are met. Must be able to work with minimal supervision in an unstructured and fast-paced environment.
  • Ad hoc enquires will be a continuing part of the role.

Requirements

Specific Work/Educational Requirements:

  • Financial/business acumen supported by an accounting designation would be an asset, but not required
  • Business undergraduate degree

Other Qualifications / Skills / Expertise:

  • Strong business/accounting background
  • Data analytics competencies, supported by experience in traversing large data sets to perform analytics/drive business insights
  • Understanding of the management/financial reporting processes and systems would be an asset, though not required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including a strong competency in both MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. Expertise in macros preferred.
  • Analytical, problem-resolution and consensus building skills
  • Must be able to think conceptually (“out-of-the-box”) and have a high degree of attention for detail.
  • Proactive and highly motivated individual who will take the initiative and who can work independently and in a team environment
  • Should be able to develop good business relationships with internal partners and be able to work with minimal supervision in an unstructured and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
