Role description

Reporting to Assistant Manager, Food Services the role of the Counter Server is to offer coverage on a variety of jobs in the Food Service Department. There are lots of opportunities for many varied experiences. Applicant would provide coverage in the following areas: Food Prep, Hot Beverage Prep, Deli Prep, Counter Service, Dish Room and Cashier.

Hours of work vary depending on department needs. Shifts would be Monday to Friday between 6:00am and 3:00pm.

What you will do

  • Various aspects of food production including (but not limited to) assisting chefs and baker with food production, sandwich prep, salad prep, coffee production etc.
  • Serving customer meals
  • Catering set up and service
  • Processing customer transactions using a computerized cash register system
  • Dish washing and pot washing
  • Cleaning and sanitation
  • Customer service

What you will bring

  • The role would be required to stand/walk for the majority of the workday.
  • Display excellent communication skills including the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve independently
  • Demonstrate safe food handling techniques. Must have or be willing to obtain the Provincial Food Handler Certificate.
  • Follow safety first initiatives as they relate to the task and environment of work performed.
  • Practice good personal hygiene and public protection protocols.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and is helpful and courteous to customers and staff at all times. Is able to answer general customer inquiries. Refers more complex inquiries as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated record of acceptable performance and attendance

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Montreal, Toronto, London, Winnipeg.
