About the Role

Toon Boom’s Head of Operations plans, directs, coordinates and oversees operation activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization.

Reports to both Co-Presidents, with dotted line to VP, Finance – Content at Corus and it is a Member of Toon Boom executive leadership team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The Head of Operations oversees all following departments and functions: administration, logistics, facilities, professional services, operations, project management, legal, finance and accounting functions at the company
  • Is accountable, in conjunction with the Co-Presidents, for establishing, implementing, and communicating the strategic direction of the organization’s operations.
  • Collaborates with Toon Boom executive leadership to influence, develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operation projects and systems.
  • Is in constant communication with VP, Finance – Content and meets all required accounting and finance deadlines.
  • Collaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • As a subject matter expert on operational excellence, the Head of Operations Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision.
  • As the subject matter expert on operational excellence, the Head of Operations helps Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Ultimately accountable for Professional Services Budgets/forecasts and operational plan/OKRs.
  • Ensures that Professional Services department is tracking to its plan, meeting profitability, revenue and delivery goals.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates and staffing requirements for projects.
  • Establishes and administers the department’s budget.
  • Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the Co-Presidents and other leadership as and when required.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

About You

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong business sense, with excellent financial and accounting background. Constantly questions status quo and always on the lookout for new business opportunities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance-related field required; MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry-related experience including three years in upper management required.
