Job title: Hotel Outreach and Weekend Support Worker
Job description: Pearl’s Place Transition House and our temporary expansion site in Squamish.
This is a temporary part-time position of 24 hours, sixteen of which will consist of 8 hours per day on Saturday and Sunday. The other 8 hours is flexible depending on the needs of clients staying at the hotel. The scheduled end date for this position is March 31, 2022.
Core Competencies and Requirements
Minimum Education Required:
· Two years post-secondary education in social/human services or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge of current federal, provincial and municipal government policy affecting clients.
· An in-depth understanding of systemic discrimination facing women and the dynamics of violence against women
Required Skills and Experience:
· Training and experience in the field of crisis counseling for women in abusive relationships
· Four years of recent experience in social services, specifically working with women and children fleeing abuse.
· Demonstrate an understanding and experience supporting clients affected by mental ill-health, substance-use, poverty, and discrimination based on ethnicity, class, sexual orientation and other intersections of marginalization.
· Demonstrate an understanding of and experience in supporting clients affected by the following forms of violence; domestic, family, societal and systemic abuse as it affects women.
· Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
· Strong organizational skills; time management, attention to detail, capacity to prioritize by assessing the situation to determine urgency.
· Positive stress management skills.
· Positive independent and collaborative problem solving and conflict management skills.
· Strong personal interaction skills; listening, crisis management.
· Proven advocacy skills.
