Role

In Alberta, Crown land represents a significant portion of the province and provides opportunities for economic development, recreation and conservation. The Planning Branch delivers an integrated approach to the management of provincial Crown land, including developing and implementing land and environmental planning and cumulative effects management. The work of the Branch reflects the full range of uses of the province’s Crown land including conservation, recreation, tourism, energy, forestry, agriculture, traditional use and others.

As an Integrated Resource Planning Assistant, you will support multi-disciplinary, cross-divisional, and cross-ministry teams in the development, and implementation of land use plans and policies. The primary focus of your role will be supporting the development and implementation of sub-regional plans.

In the Integrated Resource Planning Assistant role, you will use your organizational and engagement skills and ability to synthesize complex material, to support the effective coordination and delivery of Alberta Environment and Parks’ sub-regional plans. You will play an important role in supporting effective public, stakeholder, and Indigenous engagement. Your tasks may include supporting the development of reports and communication materials, supporting members of the Planning Branch in documenting and understanding stakeholder perspectives, organizing information, and logistical support.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to observe and support the development and implementation of plans that enable our public lands to working landscapes capable of providing economic opportunities, maintaining species diversity, while supporting the interests of all Albertans for the present and into the future.

Qualifications

Required:
University degree in a related field (political science, economics, natural resource management, environmental or land-use planning, public policy and administration, etc.) Or a 2 year diploma in related field supplemented with a minimum of 2 years progressively related experience;

Equivalencies will be considered.

Assets

  • Previous experience with stakeholder and Indigenous engagement.
  • Previous experience with environmental and natural resource management and/or provincial legislation, strategies, and policies.

Salary

$2,281.95 to $2,993.39 bi-weekly ($59,558 to $78,127 /year)

There are total of 2 positions and work Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM-4:30 PM, 36.25 hours a week.
