Job description: A Consultant is a professional advisor that assists clients to align business activities with the organization’s purpose and achieve business objectives by defining and solving management and business problems, identifying and seizing new opportunities, enhancing client knowledge, and implementing change.
A Consultant is grounded in at least one or more areas of expertise. An example of this would be a Consultant with policy expertise (Service Offering domain). This is a client-facing, billable role.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Work with clients to elicit requirements, develop business cases and provide strategic recommendations to advance their initiatives
- Interview and survey clients and their stakeholders to identify problems and synthesize remediation strategies
- Develop business cases and business/transition plans, including presentation of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of the client organization
- Actively participate in content development for requests for proposal (RFP) when applicable

- Applies understanding of classic business functions (Strategy, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Organization), and cross-functional business processes as well as the interplay between business processes, organization, people and culture, and technology
- Uses logic, analytical skills, creativity and solid writing skills to develop compelling and convincing written deliverables and work products
Service Delivery (Consulting and Project Management)
- Diagnoses problems, frames issues, identify root causes, develops hypotheses and generates and assesses alternative solutions for operational and fundamental tactical issues
- Uses logic and creativity to contribute significantly to the resolution of complex tactical issues in a team context
- Identifies first-order impacts of alternative solutions on processes, people, organizations and technology
- Categorizes and documents resources, skills, and time required to implement proposed alternatives
Strategy and Business Management
- Frames and defines the linkages between strategy, projects, and operations
- Undertakes appropriate pre-work to frame interviews, meetings and workshops
- Facilitates small client and stakeholder groups to consensus on non-divisive issues using standard facilitation techniques
- Elicits perspectives from all participants and summarize conclusions
- Participates effectively in and otherwise supports the development of client and stakeholder teams (e.g. cross-functional teams, project teams, self-directed work teams)
Business Development
- Writes high-quality proposal components when assigned, effectively adapting corporate materials to the particular project
- Presents effectively in short-list and other sales presentations
- Identifies opportunities to enhance the value of current engagements through additional work when appropriate
Knowledge Management
- Continuously builds own knowledge and keeps abreast of current developments and trends in the area of expertise by exchanging them with others
- Proactively communicates with others inside and outside the organization to build upon ideas, new learning and best practices

Technical
- Documentation and writing skills
- Familiarity with IT industry practices and solutions
- Advanced Excel (VBA & Macros)
- Data modelling methodology, data analysis (PowerBI, Alteryx etc.)
- Storyboarding in PowerPoint

- Developed problem-solving capability with proven experience in applying knowledge
- Ability to formulate solutions in ambiguous environments with minimal direction
- Critical thinking, hypothesis-based problem solving, project economics, coaching etc.
- Understanding financial statements to comprehend client problems
