Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Packaging and Supervisor, Packaging, the Leadhand, Administration – Packaging is responsible for assisting the Supervisor, Packaging with all duties normally assigned. They will take their immediate direction from the Supervisor, Packaging but are expected to work independently and provide direction, support, and coaching to employees in the Packaging Department, including Sanitation. In addition, this role will support training and other general administrative support within the Packaging Department. This position will support the Monday to Friday afternoon schedule (2pm – 10pm)

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Provide daily direction, support, and coaching to employees in the Packaging Department, including Sanitation employees,
  • Demonstrate your knowledge of equipment to provide assistance with trouble shooting if break downs occur,
  • Provide direction and assistance during the set up and changeover of equipment as necessary,
  • Conduct frequent audits of shift documentation to identify and resolve corrective actions for various reports including but not limited to, HACCP and Quality reports,
  • Manage Inventory requirements to identify and reconcile inventory and production output to ensure reporting accuracy,
  • Conduct physical inventory checks for Packaging and Sanitation items and report quantities to the Senior Supervisor, Packaging,
  • Identify training needs and develop training schedules as required,
  • Maintain training documentation,
  • Support sample request activity,
  • Support the Supervisor with Time and Attendance tracking to ensure accuracy,
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as required,
  • Support crew talks,
  • Perform administrative tasks such as printing, filing, form completion verification and other related tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Possess a working knowledge of a variety of jobs and functions within the Packaging Department,
  • Proficiency in computer software skills, Microsoft Office knowledge required,
  • Maestro, Alchemy and SAP knowledge is an asset,
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team setting with various departments,
  • Can multi-task and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy,
  • Able to work independently, is a self-motivated and takes initiative,
  • Is detail oriented, with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Able to work all shifts, including weekends
  • Able to lift 50lbs and able to operate Material Handling Equipment
  • Dairy experience is an asset
