About Our Opportunity
The Manager of Loan Administration is accountable for managing the operational activities of the Loan Administration team, ensuring efficient and effective processes and service levels in the areas of lending, loan administration, and reporting while protecting the interests of HNS and the Province.
The Manager is responsible for leadership, management, development and implementation of operational strategies and objectives for the Loan Administration team. The Manager is the subject matter expert responsible for complex financial and operational analysis and reporting, provides reliable and professional advice to senior executive, multiple departments, external support providers and clients in relation to lending and loan administration.
Primary Accountabilities
As the Manager of Loan Administration you enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the entity’s ability to administer loans in order to better promote the independence, self-reliance, security and well-being of clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the lending activities of HNS by leading an engaged, highly professional and service oriented team;
- Expanding service offerings to clients by contributing to and assessing new lending program opportunities;
- Facilitating the day to day activities of the unit by providing tools necessary for staff to effectively and efficiently support clients;
- Developing and implementing risk management strategies for loans in default for timely collection of loans receivable as well as managing the preparation of loan write-off documentation;
- Analyzing complex operational and financial data, creating financial models in support of lending activities;
- Providing leadership and guidance to staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports;
- Managing the ongoing corrective, adaptive and perfective maintenance of existing and new IT applications; and
- Ensuring the effective management of human and financial resources, and promoting a diverse and healthy workplace.
Qualifications and Experience
You have a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Business Administration and several years of related experience in finance and operations. You must have a professional accounting designation (CPA). This position requires superior analytical skills, especially in support of strategic planning and decision-making.
As the next successful Manager, you demonstrate experience with financial IT application tools, and exceptional problem-solving capabilities. You are attentive to detail, consistently ensuring program compliance. Experience leading a team, developing staff and human resource management is essential. Effective oral and written communication skills, along with change management and strategic planning skills and experience are key. In this role you are required to deal with extremely sensitive projects and issues; it is imperative you exercise a high level of professionalism and decorum in carrying out the business of the entity.
Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Analytical Thinking, Action Management, Team Leadership, Initiative, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
Equivalency
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
Equivalent experience and training includes, but is not limited to:
- A Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) and seven (7) years of direct work experience.
Related experience should be progressive and demonstrate management of teams and multiple projects.

Working Conditions
Most of your work is spent located in a comfortable office environment. Some travel may be necessary in this role.

Pay Grade: EC 11
Salary Range: $3,143.79 – $3,929.78 Bi-Weekly
