This is an excellent opportunity if you’re looking to start your career in Marketing! Being an important part of a hard-working, fun and creative digital media team, this role involves clerical, public relations and digital marketing and communications support by posting updates to various social media accounts, replying to online inquiries using pre-approved responses, monitoring reviews on third-party sites, updating websites, and assisting with online surveys and email marketing; assisting in gathering a variety of data and posting updates to various databases. In addition, the Marketing Assistant maintains related records and statistics; assists in the preparation and updating established information for online promotions. Excellent communication skills are important, as this position liaises with a variety of contacts to provide related information and assistance regarding changes to existing information. An incumbent exercises some independence of judgement and action within established guidelines and policies, referring matters of a difficult or policy nature to the Manager, Digital Media who reviews work performance in terms of effective clerical, marketing support and communication services. Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of the Grade 12 including or supplemented by courses related to the work (digital marketing and communications) plus sound related experience, preferably with some experience in online customer service, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of business English and grammar is required. Considerable experience with social media management systems (e.g. Hootsuite), e-mail and online survey platforms, website content management systems, and databases (i.e. CLASS) are assets, along with proficiency with Microsoft Office. Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations applicable to the work. Sound knowledge of the objectives and policies of the city as they relate to the work. Some knowledge of the principles and techniques relating to events, programs and services at the City. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of internal and external contacts; to prepare and maintain a variety of correspondence, reports, statistics and records related to the work; and perform general office duties in a marketing department is considered an asset. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
