As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to strengthen and promote health protection to patients, staff and members of the public attending in the hospital, prior to the first day of employment with the Hospital, all successful candidates are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (full vaccination is required) from the Ontario Ministry of Health website or other authorized source. An individual is fully vaccinated if they have provided proof of vaccination in the form of a receipt from COVaxON (the Ministry’s provincial system for COVID-19 vaccination information) and 14 days have elapsed from the final dose. In the event that you are unable to be vaccinated as a result of a ground protected under the Human Rights Code, you may submit a written explanation of the ground and any supporting documentation to determine if you are exempt from this requirement.

Your goal in this position is to support the enterprise risk, quality and care transitions teams at NYGH. You are well organized and efficient with an excellent understanding of integrated risk management including processes related to emergency preparedness, policies and procedures and legislative compliance. The role is also responsible for supporting the Care Transitions team and the Patient and Family Centered Care program in project coordination, facilitation and reporting. You demonstrate exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and customer service skills and are able to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. You are a critical thinker and have excellent problem-solving skills. You work well with staff, physicians, volunteers, patient and family advisors at all levels of the organization. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Liaise with hospital staff, leaders, physicians, volunteers to facilitate the effective handling, documentation and response to integrated risk management
  • Facilitate the policies and procedures processes of the organization including management of the electronic policy system
  • Support Legislative Compliance by continually monitoring changes in legislation and best practices and working with stakeholders to ensure compliance
  • Work closely with the Manager, Risk and Patient Experience in coordinating the risk assessment checklist and IRM processes
  • Prepare weekly and/or monthly reports related to enterprise risk, and quality
  • Plan and support projects, events and meetings across the Quality and Care Transitions portfolio as required
  • Liaise with stakeholders to develop action plans for compliance and builds reports to be shared with leadership and at committees
  • Support the care transitions team in activity related to maintaining the administration of the transitions office
  • Support the PFCC program with meeting facilitation, event planning and project coordination as needed

Qualifications

  • Completion of related Post-Secondary Diploma/Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant experience and education
  • Certificate in risk management and emergency preparedness.
  • Project Management certification an asset.
  • A minimum 3 years’ of clerical or administrative experience working in a hospital environment
  • Health care / hospital experience beneficial
  • Software experience required and mandatory
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset
