Key Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical review of the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, including reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Supervise or prepare reconciliation schedules for all balance sheet accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis, including reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares or assists in preparing bank reconciliations, bank journal entries, credit card transactions and bank deposits and implements/follows standard procedures for same.
  • Reviews journal entries and reconciliations.
  • May prepare cost reports or statements for current projects (capex) for the site(s) as applicable.
  • Assists in the preparation of, or prepares quarterly and monthly financial statements and related variance analyses from budget.
  • Prepares table and slot performance reports as applicable.
  • Prepares monthly revenue entries for Food and Beverage outlets.
  • Prepares monthly gaming revenue entries for various gaming departments including slots, tables and lottery.
  • Prepares and submits PST, GST and NRT tax returns within the required time frames.
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of quarter end/year-end comparative financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Coordinates and prepares year-end audit working papers.
  • Monitors cash requirements daily and produces cash forecasts.
  • Oversees or assists in the preparation of working papers and spreadsheets to facilitate the preparation, analysis and presentation of departmental budgets.
  • Maintains financial security by researching and reconciling discrepancies, auditing and verifying documents and following internal controls.
  • Prepares ad-hoc accounting-oriented information as requested.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports as applicable including training, appraising performance, providing positive and corrective feedback, coaching, and administering discipline.
  • Preserves accounting files in an organized and updated manner.
  • May provide backup for the payroll function.
  • May participate in physical inventory counts.
  • Takes on additional responsibilities as required.

What You Bring

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience and/or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred.
  • Completion of, or working toward the CPA designation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance theories, practices, applicable legislation and related resources.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of spreadsheets, database software and web browsers.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software; experience with Great Plains and Micros is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals to facilitate the timely collection of data and information required to meet operational and departmental objectives.
  • Ability to define, analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands.
  • Ability to perform efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Solid customer service skills and the drive to follow through on requests for information and assistance.
