Global Banking and Markets
Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange and precious & metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.
Major Accountabilities
- Provide Global Business Payments (GBP) with ongoing Internal Control support appropriate levels of oversight of operational risk;
- Partner with and facilitate the New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA) process with GBP business lines, technology groups and control and support units to ensure risks are assed appropriately through the stages of NIRA;
- Provide Payments Modernization program with ongoing 1B Risk Support and Advisory Services to assist with ensuring appropriate level of Control Function engagement;
- Provide input/support in the development and communication of processes to support policy and procedure implementation, changes and variances;
- Assist in preparing for regulatory and audit requests including collating information, challenge and providing responses;
- Issue Management tracking and monitoring and oversee related action plans;
- Coordinate with appropriate product owners to review Enterprise List of Products (New, Rebranded, Stop Sold) and report findings to Data Governance on a quarterly basis;
- Maintain Risks & Mitigants Charts relating to GBP products, periodically review with Product Owners to determine completeness, applicability;
- Provide updates on GBP Risk Management Dashboard relating to NIRA, Audit, Operation Risk & Fraud Events;
- Identify and address opportunities for improving controls and efficiencies of processes; Assist Management with ad-hoc requests and special projects.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education or a minimum of 2 years of banking or finance experience;
- Good working knowledge of internal controls; such as new product assessment, operational risk, scenario analysis
- Experience with reporting tools such as power point and power BI
- Demonstrate significant maturity, credibility and sound judgment in dealing with senior management across business lines, risk management and support groups;
- Ability to work independently
- Experience in GBP, capital markets operations or risk is considered an asset
