Job Summary

The Senior Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Analyst is responsible for providing subject matter expertise on strategic Human Resources (HR) projects, transformation initiatives, enhancements, data integrity, systems and data access security. The role also assists in coordinating and delivering projects within CN’s Human Resources (HR) function. The position requires building and maintaining relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in projects.

Main Responsibilities

· Identify project and program milestones, critical success factors, risks and resource requirements

· Ensure that projects, department milestones, and goals are met and adhere to approved budgets

· Support CN’s HR community with HRIS related needs (Management, Unions, Payroll, Benefits, Pension, Compensation, Medical, Recruitment, Staffing, Labour Relations, Field HR, Operations, and COVID 19)

· Support all of CN’s HRIS Systems

· Ensure adherence to change management process

· Ensure all project management best practices are applied

· Develop, implement, and modify software requirements based on changing business requirements

· Provide training to meet end users needs

· Provide processes, guidelines, and documentation

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.

Requirements

Experience

Human Resource Information System

· Minimum 5 years of HRIS experience

o Minimum 5 years demonstrating leadership qualities and overseeing deliverables

o Minimum 5 years of project management experience

o Between 3 to 5 years in Business Analysis*

o Between 1 to 2 years in Quality Assurance*

o Between 1 to 2 years in Release Management*

o Between 1 to 2 years using Tableau*

*Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology Management, Human Resources, or equivalent

· Business Analyst Certification

· Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification, or equivalent

· Extensive knowledge of HR processes

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

· Expertise in Microsoft Suite Project

· Knowledge of rail transportation or logistic industry *

Organizational Impact

Decision Making & Impacts

The Senior HRIS Analyst is responsible for participating in technology initiatives and ensuring coordination and completion of projects. Although the role does not have direct high-level decision-making authority, the work itself has impact on the systems and on the organization. The position is responsible for defining business requirements with stakeholders and completing setup. The incumbent is authorized to make day-to-day support-related decisions. If an exception is needed or if there is a challenge the Senior HRIS Manager will be involved. The role ensures that the correct tools are provided to HR employees.

Level of Interaction/Influence

The Senior HRIS Analyst interacts with individuals internal and external to CN. Within the organization, the incumbent liaises with the HR Technology team, Information and Technology (I&T) and various stakeholders on a regular basis and guides them toward best practices to ensure long-term viability of the proposed solutions and to execute projects. Outside of CN, the position liaises with solutions vendors and vendors and partners assisting in the realization of projects.

Employees Supervised/Organizational Structure

The Senior HRIS Analyst reports to the Senior HRIS Manager and has no supervisory responsibility.
