About the role

We are currently in search of a Specialist, Financial Planning & Expense Management for our Corporate Finance team, who will play an essential role in the support of our growth.

The position holder will work primarily on the plan, financial transformation projects including the implementation of IFRS 17, the transformation of financial processes, and expense management

What you’ll do here:

  • Participate in implementing IFRS 17 standard, including impacts on the expense allocation process and assisting with the transition to a new IFRS 17 planning system.
  • Liaise with the IT team to maintain and improve the expense planning tool.
  • Work with the expense management team to ensure the appropriate expense allocation process is reflected in the plan as well as in actual results.
  • Establish and closely monitor the project schedule of the annual planning process.
  • Ensure an efficient flow of information during the bottom-up planning exercise between various internal stakeholders including Group, regional finance, corporate actuaries, and regional actuaries.
  • Consolidate, analyze and report results of the bottom-up planning exercise, including underwriting dashboard and bottom-line report.
  • Ensure the final plan is properly reflected in the appropriate financial systems.
  • Provide accounting and budgeting support for corporate shared services business units and other corporate expenses.
  • Provide support on expense management projects and analysis.
  • Ensure processes are documented and optimized and that proper controls are in place.
  • Participate in various projects that may involve complex issues such as financial transformation

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

  • CPA title (CA, CMA or CGA) or near completion
  • Solid written and oral communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with various individuals from all organizational levels, including VP Finance and Controller and certain external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in excel and managing data sets
  • Strong analytical ability and very well organized.
  • Detail-oriented and rigorous.
  • Be autonomous, proactive, creative, and demonstrate team spirit and “can do” attitude.
  • Quick learning capacity and high appetite for change
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress well
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion or of the implementation of these tools are an asset
  • French is an asset

Flexible Work Arrangements

Right now, we support 100% remote work, if your role permits. We anticipate that in early 2022, we’ll be moving to a hybrid approach which gives us the best of both worlds – a mix of home and in-office workdays.
