• Business group: GTS – ECCO Database Services is seeking an intermediate Database Administrator to provide database support for MSSQL on Windows.
• Reason for request: Workload/Project/Backfill
• Project Summary : The main function of a Database Administrator is to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals.

Typical Day in Role:

• Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
• Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues

(ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)

• Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
• Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching
• Perform and manage system and database backups
• Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure

Job Responsibilities:
Provide on-site database and system support
Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance Based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance
Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)
Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching
Perform and manage system and database backups
Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure

Must Have Skills:

• 5+ years Database Administration experience
• Experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and

operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance
monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution

• Experience with:
• MSSQL 2017/2016/2014/2012/2008R2/2008
• Windows server 2012/2008R2/2008.
• Windows 10/8/7 client operating systems.
• SQL Always-On, mirroring, clustering and data replication.
• MSSQL services (SSRS/SSAS/SSIS/Fulltext/Polybase/R) and OLAP.
• Application side tuning versus server-side tuning.
• VB, C#, Power shell, Azure Cloud would be an asset to the role.
• Use of PostgreSQL and Linux, ksh

Degrees or certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required

• 1-Step Process: 1 Technical In-Person Interview with Hiring Manager
• There may be second round interviews
• Interviews to take place ASAP

Additional Notes:
– DBAs title but they’re not actual doing the entire function – they’re only doing part of the functions
– Need someone who takes care of the entire process:
o Database Sub-tier deployment – SQL integration – installing components
o Data Platform/Application Support – DBA should know which technical services need to be provided to get the application running on the database created
o Ongoing support – after goLive, ensuring everything runs smoothly
– not looking for candidate who can only do part of function, can’t just be familiar with sub-function of requirements
– need to provide end to support on databases
– need experience with SQL installation and deployment, supporting project before GoLive, working with application teams to get the database customized for the application, managing afterlife after GoLive – manage any issues that arise – need to be able to answer questions such as (need experience with at least 75% of the requirements – Manager will consider candidates who show interest and potential to learn any missing experience)

Specialization and Skills: Data Analytics Database Administrator 5 – 7 years

Priority Requirements: Please provide examples of your experience working with MSSQL database and providing ongoing database support (5 – 7 years)
