Job Description
Key Focus:
- Support one or more applications by ensuring database availability, reliability, and security during all phases of the application’s lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Create various database environments as needed for applications development, testing and production implementation
- Ensure sufficient disk space for normal growth as well as for new initiatives
- Assist in diagnosing application errors or issues
- Monitor the performance of the supported databases and make recommendations to improve overall application performance
- Participate in physical database design by reviewing or generating DDL as needed
- Perform backup and recovery tasks for databases in all environments as needed
- Install database upgrades and maintenance patches as required
- Design and implement database indexes as needed
- Enable access by implementing appropriate security policies
- Follow corporate ITIL problem and change policies and procedures
- Participate in on-call support schedule
Required Skills
- College Degree or equivalent experience (Computer Science Preferred)
- 5-7 years’ experience in Information Technology
- 5-7 years’ experience as a senior-level DBA
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible when dealing with necessary changes
- Thorough understanding and demonstrated practical application of tools, methodologies, and design concepts in the area of database management
- Understanding of key business processes
- Strong experience with SQL Server versions 2008R2 to 2017 database
- Strong experience T-SQL language and PowerShell
- Strong experience with high-availability databases required
- Working knowledge of SSIS, SSRS a strong plus
- Strong experience with database tools and utilities
- Understanding of the Microsoft Azure/IaaS required, Azure SQL/PaaS a plus
- Understanding of Mongo DB, or another NoSQL technology a strong plus
- Up to date knowledge in database technologies, data warehousing, ETL and data architecture
- Consultative approach to support and cooperative attitude
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Quality focus and detail oriented
