Reporting to the Executive Director, Facilities Management & Business Performance, the Director, Facilities Management, Business Results and Administration is responsible for enabling the successful delivery and achievement of business

As a Director, Financial Planning, Business Results and Administration, Facilities and Real Estate with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Lead and improve business operations of the Facilities Management and Real Estate department.
  • Lead the successful intake, resourcing, management, and governance of the Facilities Management and Real Estate department (FM) portfolio of key strategic initiatives throughout all phases.
  • Provide regional strategic and operations decision support within the Facilities Management and Real Estate (FM) portfolio across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). S/he provides a critical linkage between this portfolio and the FM leadership team. Key areas of responsibility include strategic and operational integration and planning, quality and corporate controls, all aspects of business results reporting and analysis, benchmarking, business analysis, support & costing, facilities operational budgeting planning processes and guidelines, multi-year forecasts, utilization management & process improvement and decision support for the Facilities department.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the review and analysis of budgets and proposed initiatives within FM across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).
  • Work with stakeholders to identify, develop and implement strategic operational plans for the portfolio and acts as a resource to resolve day-to-day portfolio issues.
  • Support the Executive Director, Facilities Management & Business Performance by providing a linkage between the facilities management budgeting and financial reporting areas of VCH including procurement areas within FM and with PHSA Supply chain.
  • Form key partnerships with members of the FM leadership team, and the VCH Corporate, Capital Planning & Financial Services teams. Reporting directly to the Director, Facilities Management Business Results and Administration are Business Analysts, Project Managers, and other designated support staff as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Health Administration or related discipline, or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ recent, related experience in a large multi-site health care organization with responsibility for implementing and operationalizing business decision support processes and financial strategic
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion a professional accounting designation is an asset.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of health and business administration including strategic and operational planning.
  • Broad knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial, administrative and contract management, audit and program evaluation principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of capital planning processes within the BC health care system.Demonstrated analytical and evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant industry best practices, legislation, by-laws, regulations and related standards.
  • Demonstrated change leadership experience in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated senior project management experience in large, transformational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated strategic management planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge thinking and difficult topics to move beyond potential barriers and seek agreement.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, organize and problem-solve.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple programs, and foster a respectful and motivating environment where individual competencies can thrive.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
