Job description: What is the opportunity?
The Director, Portfolio Administration is an integral part of Global Real Estate Operations SMT and will be accountable for the proactive management, administration and integrity of RBC’s real estate portfolio including financial compliance, analytics, critical date management, rent payment, audits and executive reporting.
This role is critical to mitgating RBC’s financial and operational risk related to the operational financial managing of the real estate portfolio. The position will be RBC’s global lead in providing direction and oversight of our service provider(s), landlords and the CRE department and requires a high level of real estate expertise.
What will you do?
- This global leader will be accountable for the proactive management, administration and integrity of RBC real estate portfolio’s financial operations and information including financial compliance, analytics, critical data management, rent payments, audits and executive reporting
- This role is critical to mitigating RBC’s financial and operational risk related to global payment of rents along with compliance obligations created by our real estate leases
- Accountable for the lease and tax audit programs, including operating costs and landlord compliance
- Owner of all real estate portfolio data in RBC’s system-of-record (Manhattan) – ensure integrity and integration of portfolio data into other areas of CRE and provide reporting of portfolio data to ensure transparency of information for RBC’s management team to identify risks and opportunities
- Accountable for relationships with significant landlords and subtenants related to rent, operating costs and taxes as well as the supplier base supporting lease audits and tax appeals including supplier contracts and execution strategy
- Responsible for ensuring optimal end to end processes and integration of the relevant upstream and downstream service lines and service partners as well as their effective collaboration
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Business/Financial designation (MBA, CPA, CFA)
- Minimum 7+ years’ of experience in Portfolio Administration or Corporate Real Estate or in a leadership role
- Strong leadership and people management experience
- Strong relationship management experience
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, planning and problem solving skills
- Strong business communication skills (written and verbal)
Nice-to-have
- Strong Finance skillset
- Advanced knowledge of the corporate real estate and service provider markets
- Ability to develop content and tailor messaging and presentations for a broad range of senior audience
