Developmental Opportunity- Applicants will be appointed to the appropriate classification level based on their qualifications.
Currently there is one (1) temporary opportunity until June 3rd, 2023 with the possibility of extending orbecoming permanent.

The Emergency Management Unit (EMU) has responsibility for ensuring that the Ministry of Health (MoH) is prepared to respond to emergency events that impact MoH operations and/or that impact the health system. This includes providing leadership to the Ministry of Health’s emergency management program and ensuring that the leadership team in the Ministry of Health, including the Minister, Deputy Minister, Associate Deputy Ministers, and Assistant Deputy Ministers, are prepared to play leadership roles in managing an emergency that impacts the MoH and / or the health system. The EMU also plays a lead role in ensuring strategic integration of health system preparedness and response activities across government, and with Federal, Provincial, Territorial, and International government agencies. The EMU works in partnership with other Ministry of Health program areas, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer, Health Authorities, Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Emergency management BC (HEMBC),Emergency Management BC (EMBC), other ministries, emergency management organizations, and state and local governments. The EMU also contributes to provincial, national and international best practice standards for health emergency and business continuity management programs.
The positionsupports health emergency management policy analysis, policy advisory services and the evaluation of issues impacting the Ministry’s emergency management business. This position accomplishes this by conducting research and analysis of issues, managing smaller policy development projects or portions of larger strategic policy development projects as assigned by a policy project lead and/or by independently managing assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs or legislation.
