Job title: Finance and Administration Assistant

Job description: Provides administrative, clerical and financial assistance to the Manager, Academic and Administrative Services, Engineering Science faculty and the Administration Office. Provides assistance to faculty regarding the interpretation of university policies and procedures and research account guidelines. Provides receptionist duties for the School. Receives and signs for shipments delivered to the school.

Qualifications:

High School graduation and general courses or training of moderate duration (one semester equivalent) in word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications and office procedures. 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study ad experience is acceptable.

  • 50 wpm keyboarding skill with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use word processing, database,, spreadsheet and e-mail applications (e.g. MS Word, Access.
  • Excel, SFU Connect) in a PC environment at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to use enterprise-level information systems (e.g. Peoplesoft/FAST/SIMS).
  • Ability to use internet browser software (e.g. MS Internet Explorer) at a basic level.
  • Ability to maintain records with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete a high volume of work, with frequent interruptions, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgement and initiative with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive material with discretion.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations, including percentages, with accuracy.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of standard office practices, methods, and equipment.
  • Good knowledge of manual and computerized record keeping systems and concepts.
  • Good knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of University and department policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to lift, move, carry supplies and deliveries up to 20 kg.
