Position purpose:
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance, the position takes leadership in the enterprise risk management (ERM) program by collaborating with senior managers across the organization to identify and assess risks and opportunities, and ensures the University’s consistent adaptation of the enterprise risk management framework and applicable risk management requirements.
The Risk Analyst provides critical support to the ERM team by conducting risk assessments and by assisting in the delivery of enterprise-wide risk management programs. Works with relevant client risk liaisons to identify, assess and assist in managing critical departmental risks.
The Risk Analyst provides technical expertise, advice and leadership to various University stakeholders on potential risks and consult with stakeholders to determine how to address identified risks and support, educate and train staff to build risk awareness within the organization.
In this role you will:
- Assists the Associate Director, Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance in developing, implementing, and administering the enterprise risk management framework at the University.
- Provides expertise and support to the University’s first line of defense risk management activities to assure that current practices fall within established University ERM policies, procedures, and operating parameters; such activities include, but are not limited to, supporting the oversight reviews of key risk processes, and performing concentration analysis across various risk types.
- Coordinates and supports internal departments to consistently conduct risk identification, reporting and monitoring processes and identify internal and external risk trends and operational issues.
- Supports the development of risk processes, including department risk / identification, controls, self-assessments, risk measures, and liaises with various department leads regarding departmental risk processes.
- Develops and track sets of key risk indicators to monitor trends in departmental risk profiles and develops, implements, and maintains tools and methodologies for identifying, logging, quantifying, tracking, and reporting risks consistently.
What you will bring:
- University degree with acceptable specialization in Business, Finance or Risk Management.
- 5 years’ experience in enterprise risk management.
- 3 years’ experience in program management. (Program or project management certification an asset)
- Professional designation in risk management with preferred specialization in Enterprise Risk Management (CRM-E or RF-E).
- Experience within a Management Consulting firm is considered as an asset.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, due diligence, management systems and corporate reporting.
- Knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal regulation framework and risk management best practices in Canada and internationally.
- Proven leader and strategic thinker.
- Experience in developing and implementing institutional policies and procedures.
- Experience in assessing policy and regulatory requirements and the methods and procedures for ensuring compliance.
- Extensive experience in multi-stakeholder consultations and facilitation.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Strong analytic skills, and the ability to aggregate and analyze quantitative and qualitative data; intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing in French and English.
