Joining the Risk Management team at National Bank means contributing to the transformation and having a direct impact on clients. As a Senior Advisor, Strategies and Risk Management, you’ll act as an expert in supporting the risk management units and the business lines when it comes to OSFI regulations, coordinating regulatory initiatives linked to risk models, and evaluating operational and financial resilience in times of crisis.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Living Wills and Compliance in Integrated Risk Management. Integrated Risk Management executes a number of mandates with an integrated view of the Bank in the risk management and head office sectors and in the business lines.
Your role:
Your main challenges:
- Coordinate the internal self-assessment process, including capital standards, requirements for internal capital adequacy and crisis simulations
- Coordinate the production of recurring regulatory reports on risk models
- Coordinate and organize meetings of the model risk oversight committee
- Follow up on recommendations and implement action plans stemming from recommendations issued by regulatory authorities
- Coordinate and/or support the achievement of regulatory initiatives
- Participate in the program for testing recovery plans for our activities in the event of a financial crisis
Your impact: Improve risk management and the Bank’s operational resilience in the event of a crisis by adopting a cross-sector view of the Bank.
Your typical workday:
- Process requests from OSFI concerning risk models while supporting the model development and risk management units
- Support the risk management units in performing self-assessments: validate that processes are complaint with regulatory requirements and challenges
- Every two months, coordinate a review of model risks: plan the agenda for the model oversight committee, support the persons responsible for models when it comes to expectations
- Organize the execution of resilience tests (fire drills, crisis management simulations, etc.)
- Quarterly, produce the model risk monitoring reports required
- Collaboratively challenge the various contributors to ensure the quality of information (+/- 30 stakeholders)
Competencies required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience OR master’s degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience OR university certificate/undergraduate diploma from the National Bank University Program and 9 years of relevant experience
- Experience in risk management or capital management
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment, including OSFI, as it applies to regulatory capital and ICAAP
- Excellent prioritization skills and ability to work on several complex files at the same time while meeting tight deadlines
- Ability to collaborate with, support and influence people
- Bilingualism, both spoken and written (English and French), essential
