Context & Background

Our Global Quality and Risk Management Tax & Legal team (GQRM T&L) in business enablement services, is looking for a dynamic professional to join our team as a Senior Manager. The GQRM T&L team provides guidance, advice and support regarding quality and risk management matters relevant to all KPMG Tax and Legal functions globally and administers the global Quality Performance Review program.

Role Summary

As an integral part of our GQRM T&L group, the role involves helping the Tax and Legal functions globally comply with quality and risk management requirements, by performing such tasks as launching risk management policies and guidance, implementing or streamlining processes, developing tools and training and consulting with stakeholders on risk issues. This role requires interaction and collaboration with the members of various international risk management and Tax and Legal functions and other global teams. The position is based in the Global Resource Centre (Toronto, Canada).
What you will do

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with global, regional and member firm stakeholders on a variety of global projects and initiatives aimed at refining, enhancing and building-out risk management frameworks for the Tax and Legal functions.
  • Leverage business acumen and knowledge of risk management in leading projects to develop and launch guidance, processes and tools to support effective compliance include risk management procedures for new or modified services and to address emerging risk issues.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline risk management processes to increase clarity and reduce inefficiencies as well as implement best practices and innovative solutions to keep pace with changing business needs.
  • Work with GQRM T&L leadership to lead stakeholder consultations to gather feedback and build consensus for new or modified policies and processes.
  • Participate in global working groups and committees to explore and develop new or modified global policies and procedures, championing the risk management needs of the Tax & Legal functions.
  • Liaise with and provide guidance to stakeholders regarding the application of policies and processes to specific situations. Build strong relationships with stakeholder to foster open communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in developing and delivering trainings on a variety of risk related topics to foster clarity and understanding of risk management requirements.
  • Prepare and launch alerts and other communications to stakeholders to provide updates on policy changes, new tools and emerging issues.
  • Assist with the Global Quality Performance Review program, including annual update of content and tools, process improvements, analyzing findings and reporting on results.
  • Manage or participate in other risk management initiatives, as needed.

What you bring to the role

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • A degree in Law or CPA
  • 6+ years’ legal or tax client service experience at large professional services firm
  • Prior risk management/compliance experience would be an asset

Experience & Knowledge

  • Solid business acumen with an understanding of financial services and risk management/compliance
  • Proven business, writing and communication skills with ability to work across matrix organizations
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with ability to build strong relationships and confidence in dealing with senior executives and challenging situations
  • Self-starter mentality with advanced analytical and innovative problem sovling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under minimal direction, and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to proactively manage multiple priorities, with competing deadlines
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including MS Teams
